Dear Briggs School District Families,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!  My name is Dr. Carlos Dominguez, and I am honored to serve you and your children as the new Briggs School District Superintendent!  I am truly excited to join such a wonderful, small, tight-knit school community.

I was born and raised in Ventura County and have served in education for over 27 years.  My experience in education started as a paraprofessional in the Hueneme Elementary School District.  I then went on to serve HESD as a classroom teacher, school principal, district office administrator and most recently as the Deputy Superintendent.  In addition to serving HESD, I also worked at the Ventura County Office of Education for three years as I supported local districts with their state and federal funding.  My experience in education includes supporting schools in the areas of curriculum and instruction, human resources, and facilities and transportation.  Lastly, I have also served as an adjunct instructor at California Lutheran University and California State University, Channel Islands.

My education was an adventure as I worked full time while attending college classes in the evening.  I eventually earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Northridge.  I then went on to earn Master’s Degrees in Educational Technology and School Administration, both from Azusa Pacific University.  After earning my master’s degrees, I continued my education and earned my Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from California Lutheran University.

Personally, I enjoy being outdoors.  Some of my favorite activities are hiking, camping, and running.  I am a huge Dodgers, Raiders and LAFC fan, and I try to watch them play every chance I get.  Most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my new granddaughter!

As your superintendent, I am excited to build off of the wonderful direction Briggs has taken to ensure our students are equipped to be academically successful.  I look forward to working with the Briggs staff and community to continue serving our students as they progress towards academic excellence.
